What we look at, and what we treat
Sleep, emotional load, body comfort, nutrition and functional capacity shape each other. They are the framework of your health brief and your first review, and they are the areas our own team works on with you. What else a Family Health Office does is on what it is.
Five domains
Choose a domain
How easily you fall asleep, whether you wake too early, and whether you wake feeling rested.
How it connects
Poor sleep often shows up somewhere else first: a shorter temper, more pain, less energy for movement, less care over food.
What we do about it
We work on what is driving it — pain, routine, load, movement and the evening meal — and re-measure it at each review. Where it needs a doctor or a psychologist, we arrange one and keep it inside the same plan.
Read about sleep and daily energy →How much you are carrying for other people, whether your mind switches off, and whether you have any time that is just yours.
How it connects
In many families one person carries everyone's health. That load is part of the picture too.
What we do about it
Counselling forms part of a plan where it is needed, with support for the person doing the caring as well as the person being cared for. Where a concern calls for a psychologist or a psychiatrist, we arrange one and bring the findings back into your plan.
How we work →Pain, stiffness and discomfort in the knees, back and joints, and how much they limit your day.
How it connects
Pain changes how people sleep, move and eat, and a change in any of those can change the pain.
What we do about it
Physiotherapy and supervised movement work here, with the medicines reviewed alongside it and an orthopaedic view when a bone or joint problem needs a surgeon's opinion.
Movement, bones and joints →What the household actually eats, energy through the day, weight, and bone strength.
How it connects
One kitchen usually has to serve several sets of needs. We plan for the family table, not for one person in isolation.
What we do about it
Our dietitian builds a plan around what your family really eats and what the reports show, then adjusts it at each review, with weight and the relevant bloods measured again rather than assumed.
Nutrition and dietetics →Strength, balance, walking, stairs and getting up from the floor: the everyday things that keep a person independent.
How it connects
Capacity is where everything else shows. It is often the first thing families notice, and the last thing anyone measures.
What we do about it
Supervised strength and balance work here, in a form that fits an ordinary day at home, re-tested with the same measures so progress is visible rather than assumed.

Your health brief
The Functional Health Score takes about two minutes, online. It gives us a first picture across these five domains before we know your medical history.
It is where the conversation begins, not a diagnosis, and your answers stay with the clinic.
